
Elizabeth was born in Dublin, Ireland on Aug 21st 1918, daughter of William Joseph Holton and Ellen Lyons Holton; and grew up in the midst of multiple challenges from the great depression, the Irish struggle for independence and the 2nd World War. Through it all she maintained a great sense of humor, an abiding faith in the Catholic Church and a devotion to Our Lady and St Martin. Elizabeth and her husband Bill moved to the United States in 1990 to be near their daughters, Antoinette and Brenda and son Fergie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Haughton in 2000. Elizabeth enjoyed bingo, lunch and shopping with her frequent companions, Cheryl Blalock and Liz Fowler; and was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
Elizabeth is survived by her sister Angela in Dublin Ireland ; daughters Antoinette Brahm and Brenda Haythorne; and son Fergie Haughton and their spouses, all of Rome Ga.
Funeral services for Elizabeth will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home with Deacon Stuart Neslin officiating. Interment and committal service will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until the service hour on Thursday.
Fergus Haughton, Bertil Brahm, Tom Haythorne, Jorgen Brahm, Terry Bandy, and Don Becham will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 911 N. Broad Street, Rome, GA 30161 or to St. Mary’s Catholic School, 401 East 7th Street, Rome, GA 30161.
