Ellen "Joan" Ellison

She was born on November 28, 1926 in Rome, Georgia to Mary and Arthur Ellis of Dean Street.

In 1942 she married James Ellison, also of Rome. Mr. and Mrs. Ellison welcomed their only child, Jimmy Ellison, in 1954. She enjoyed doting on him as well as working at Miller Brothers clothing store and later at Essermans.

In the 70s, her husband became ill and she diligently cared for him until his passing in 1986.

Throughout her life, Joanne enjoyed cooking, gardening and bowling. She was a very active grandmother to her grandsons, Curt and Dan, and later to her granddaughter Katie.

She is survived by her son James A. Ellison and his wife Mary Lee who live in Alpharetta; her 97 year old brother, Tom Ellis of Rome; 3 grandchildren: Dan, Katie and Curt Ellison from the Atlanta area as well as Curt’s wife Hayley and their daughter Vive Enne.

The family received friends at Daniel’s Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. Thursday, February 23rd. A funeral service was held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Daniel’s Funeral Home Chapel. She was interred at East View Cemetery in Rome, Georgia.
