

Mr. Hoyt Edwin Barron of Rome, Georgia passed away at the age of 94 at his residence, Brookdale Senior Living on Sunday, February 12, 2017. Mr. Barron was born March 24, 1922 to William Edgar Barron and Sara Jackson Barron. He lived most of his life on a family farm in Floyd County which was purchased in 1927. He became the sole owner of this farm in 1955 and ran the Barron Dairy Farm until his retirement. After graduating from Model High School in 1938, he continued his education at the University of Georgia where he received a BSA in Agriculture in 1942.
Mr. Barron's legacy is that of a man who humbly provided for his family, courageously served his country and endeavored to improve his community.
Hoyt Barron was a decorated World War II Veteran. He enlisted in the U S Army in 1943. During WW II he served as First Lieutenant of Mechanized 3rd. Cavalry Reconnaissance Unit 1620 while assigned in Central Europe and Northern France. He earned the Purple Heart and the Oak Leaf Cluster.
Mr. Barron served two terms on the Floyd County Board of Roads and Revenue starting in the late 1950's. He also served as a Board Trustee at Model School during the 50's and 60's. He was a member of the Exchange Club, Farm Bureau, and a faithful member of North Broad Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers: Roy Henry Barron and Jackson (Jack) Edgar Barron;
4 sisters: Mrs. Helen (James) Webb, Mrs. Estelle (David M.) Bowen, Mrs. Sue (John) Richard, and Mrs. Amy (Charlie) Reed.
Mr. Barron leaves behind his wife of 75 years Edna Davis Barron. They were married December 21, 1941. As always, she was by his side when he passed.
He is also survived by 2 sons: Bill (Phyllis) Barron of Rome GA and Tommy (Laura) Barron of Roswell GA; a daughter Linda (Tim) Evans of Grayson GA; 6 grandchildren: Lisa Barron, Hickory NC;Todd (Amanda) Evans, Johns Creek GA; Scott (Ashley) Evans, Atlanta GA; Billy Barron, Atlanta GA; Blair Barron, Roswell GA; John Barron, Roswell, GA; and 5 great-grandchildren:Kate, Glenn, and Mark Evans of Johns Creek GA; Pace and Claire Evans, Atlanta GA; brothers-in-law, Bobby Davis, Rome GA; Glenn (Cathy) Davis, Austell GA; sister-in-law Mrs. Luese Davis, Rome GA; a number of nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the devoted, personal, and professional care he received from Diane, Kendra, Tammy, Kayla, Ashley, Danita, and the entire staff of Brookdale and the staff of Heymans Hospice Care of Floyd.
The family received friends on Saturday, February 18 from 11:00 AM till 12:45 PM at Daniel's Funeral Home. Following visitation the Funeral Service was held at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Daniel's Funeral Home with Rev. Micah Pritchett officiating. Military Rites were provided by the Shanklin Attaway Post 5 Honor Guard at the time of burial at Eastview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Mr. Barron's grandchildren: Lisa Barron, Todd Evans, Scott Evans, Billy Barron, Blair Barron, John Barron.
