

Steve was born on November 15, 1951, in Rome, GA. He was the first of three children of Ann Nix Ellis and James Howard Ellis.
He attended Model High School in Rome, GA. He continued his education at Berry College in Mount Berry, GA, graduating in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chemistry. Steve proudly worked for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation as a Forensic Chemist for 25 years with many honors, retiring in 1998.
Steve was a true character and brought a smile to anyone he came across. He loved spending time with family, friends, and playing with his grandson. In his spare time, Steve enjoyed riding his Harley and Camaros, listening to The Rolling Stones, cheering for the Atlanta Braves and Falcons, singing karaoke, attending car shows, and dining at his favorite restaurants - Old Hickory House, Picadilly Cafeteria, and Pappadeaux.
He was loved by his family and was truly grateful for every moment spent with them throughout his eventful life. His compassion for his family and friends was undeniable.
He is survived by his children, Lauren Robbins and Matthew Ellis; his grandson Forrest Robbins; his mother, Ann Ellis; his brother, Wayne Ellis; his sister, Susan Warren; his niece, Emily Ellis; his nephew, Mikel Ellis; his aunt, Anna-Ruth Day; his aunt Eva Joe Stallings; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, James Ellis.
Steve will be deeply missed and cherished by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on August 27 at Daniel’s Funeral Home in Rome, GA. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until the time of the service. Online condolences may be made at www.daniels-funeralhome.com
