

Mr. Jon Timothy “Tim” Heames of Rome, Georgia passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023, with his beloved wife, Joyce, by his side. He was 82 years of age. Tim was the son of the late Curtis Carrington Heames and Maxine Louise Heames.
Mr. Heames is survived by his wife of 30 years, Joyce Thompson Heames; children, Jon Heames, Melissa Weresh, Heather Acton, and Wiggs Thompson; grandchildren, Eric Heames, Alex Weresh, Salem Weresh, Hank Weresh, Cameron Acton, Mea Acton, Alaina Acton, Brayden Thompson and Lindy Grace Thompson; and siblings, Debby Scardina and Anne Wineland.
Mr. Heames is preceded in passing by his parents and sister, Chrissy Terlesky.
Mr. Heames was raised in Youngstown, OH. As he furthered his education, he attended Yale, Youngstown State and Carnegie Mellon Universities, completing his masters and doing his pre-doctoral studies.
During his working years, Mr. Heames returned to his alma mater, Carnegie Mellon, as a Professor of Management Strategy. He then went on to serve as a Professor of Management Strategy at Wake Forest University, Samford University, the University of Mississippi, and West Virginia University. During his extensive career in education, Mr. Heames was part of the founding faculty of the Babcock Graduate School while at Wake Forest University and was Associate Dean of the School of Business at Samford University. Mr. Heames retired from West Virginia University in 2016 when he and his wife moved to Rome, Ga near Berry College where he lived a quiet life and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and beloved dogs, Jackson and Abbott.
The family will hold a private memorial service to celebrate Mr. Heames’s life and a scholarship is being established in his honor in the John Chambers College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University.
