
Mr. Smith was born in Oxford, NY, on October 17, 1922, the son of the late Howard C. Smith and Ethel Sharpe Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Maurice Jerry Smith.
Mr. Smith was a master machinist and supervisor of the tool room at General Electric, retiring after 47 years. Mr. Smith was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army Air Force and enjoyed farming and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Emily B. (Peg) Smith, to whom he was married June 16, 1945; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie (Bob) Turpin, Rome, and Joanne (Jerry) Edmonds, Rome; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey B. (Tara) Smith, Rome; grandchildren, Robert (Taleah) Turpin II, Lori T. (Burt) Jackson, Tiffany Edmonds, Meagan Edmonds, Joshua M. Smith and Dustin A. (Ashley) Smith; great grandchildren, Jordan Parrish, Gavin H. Turpin, Noah B. Turpin, Dalton C. Jackson and Mikaela G. Jackson; and a sister, Roberta E. Jackson, Norwich, NY.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 6, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the graveside in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Tom Wood officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeffrey B. Smith, Joshua M. Smith, Dustin A Smith, Jerry Edmonds, Bob Turpin and Bobby Turpin.
