

Marian Sue Ford was born December 27, 1932, in Rome, GA, to parents Raymond Bryan Ford and Grace Cunyus Ford. She graduated from Rome High School in June, 1949. She married Robert E. Worsham, Jr., also of Rome, on August 13, 1949.
Mrs. Worsham graduated from Shorter College in 1954 with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She went on to attain a Master’s Degree from West Georgia College. Mrs. Worsham taught for many years at Central Primary Elementary School in Rome, and worked as a reading specialist at elementary schools in San Jose, CA. After leaving San Jose, she taught school in Glen Ellyn, IL, and Bridgeport, CT. She later returned to San Jose to attain her real estate license and work as a realtor.
In July, 1977, Marian married Andrew F. Downey, Jr. they moved to Arlington, VA, and later settled in Atlanta, GA, where they both retired.
Mrs. Downey was preceded in death by her parents and her two husbands. Her survivors include her two children, Cynthia Worsham Cosby of Atlanta, and Dr. Stephen Ford Worsham of Anderson, SC; eight grandchildren, Megan Cosby, Emily Clark, Aliece Williams, AJ Cosby, Holly Vineyard, Ford Worsham, Heather Worsham and Alex Worsham; and five great grandchildren, Abagail and Wyatt Clark, Savannah and Raleigh Vineyard, and Owen Worsham.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Griffin Memorial Chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home, Rome, with the Rev. Fred Astin officiating. Interment will follow in the East View cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Daniel’s Funeral Home on Saturday, January 12, 2013, from 1 until 2 p.m.
