
Marian was born in Sterling, NY on April 27, 1917, daughter of the late Howard Cooper and Amy Stone Cooper. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Edwin Charles Ducret in November, 1990.
She had been a resident of Rome since 1985 and a member of West Rome United Methodist Church and a member of the C. Riley Sunday School Class. She was a longtime member of Lavender Mountain Quilt Guild. Mrs. Ducret was a graduate of Hannibal High School and prior to retirement worked for Fulton City School System. She was an avid quilter and painter and enjoyed travel and card games.
Mrs. Ducret is survived by a daughter, Joanne D. Gaba, Rome; a son, David Ducret (Ronda), Smithfield, Maine; a foster daughter, Susie Haggett, Syracuse, NY; five grandchildren, Jeff and Chris Gaba, Marisa Ortega, Renee D’Alessandro and Paul Ducret; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Gifford, Hannibal, NY; and seven nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at 7 p.m. at the Griffin Memorial Chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary McWhorter officiating. Interment will be in Sterling Center, New York at a later date.
Much appreciation goes to the very caring staff of Horizon Bay, Heyman Hospice and a special thanks to Leigh Blaylock who lovingly cared for her this past year.
