
Mrs. Hunt was born December 10, 1917, in Danville, GA, the daughter of the late Dr. George E. and Minnie Pettey Chapman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C. Lydel Hunt in 1977, and by five sisters and one brother.
Mrs. Hunt graduated from the University of Georgia at age 19 and taught school in the Rome City and Floyd County School Systems, most years spent at Johnson School. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church, the T.E.L. Sunday School Class, the Sounds of Praise Choir and the Joy Makers. She also served as a Red Cross Volunteer at Floyd Medical Center for many years.
Mrs. Hunt is survived by her three children, E. Lydel Hunt (Marilyn), Wanda Meeks (Larry), and Bobby Hunt (Sandy), all of Rome; five grandchildren, Bobby Hunt (Mandy), Jason Marion (Margaret), Shannon Marion (Tammy), Christen Gilstrap (David), and Zach Hunt (Darcie); one step-grandson, Stephen Meeks; and her dog, Lucky.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at 3 p.m. at the North Broad Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the East View Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and Bobby Tucker and Robert Puckett.
The family received friends at the North Broad Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, from 1 until 3 p.m.
