Mary Elizabeth Connell Webb

Mrs. Webb was born on January 22, 1921, the daughter of the late Doc Thomas Connell and Mary M. Edwards Connell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Gordon Webb, on May 6, 1996, and by two brothers, Dewey Thomas Connell and Lawrence Connell.

Mrs. Webb was employed by the Floyd County School System at Krannert Elementary School in the dietary department. She was the oldest member of the Livingston United Methodist Church and was baptized in the Desoto Park Lake at Darlington School. She had lived in the Morton Bend Community since 1948.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan Kathleen Webb, Huntsville, AL, and Mary Ann Vick, and her husband, Gene, Rome; two grandchildren, Joseph Vick, Huntsville, and Amanda Vick, Rome; two sisters, Frances (Cliff) Hatch, and Gladys Mathis, all of Rome; and her friend and special caregiver, Sherri Smith.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 20, 2010, at 3 p.m. at the Thomas B. Griffin Memorial Chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home, Rome, with the Rev. Warren Jones and the Rev. Phyllis Edson officiating. Interment will be in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Robert Roe, Sr., Robert Roe, Jr., Glenn Nicholson, Charles Nicholson, Danny Walker and Richard Didrick. Honorary pallbearers will be B. R. Perry, Calvin Stinson and Jerry Peed.

The family will receive friends at Daniel’s Funeral Home on Saturday from 2 until 3 p.m.
