

Mr. Ralph Cleveland Rutledge, age 59, of Rome, passed away at his residence surrounded by family on Thursday, September 8, 2016. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Mr. Rutledge was born on May 12, 1957 in Duluth to the late Paul Lamar Rutledge and Betty Vernon Rutledge. As an active member of Second Avenue Baptist Church, Mr. Rutledge served as former Chair of the Deacons and dedicated Sunday school teacher, as well as other teams and ministries. Mr. Rutledge was the retired owner and operator of RCTC Enterprises, Inc., through which he brought Domino’s Pizza to Rome in 1987. Mr. Rutledge will be remembered by many in the Rome community for his love of basketball, the outdoors, and for his selfless service to others.
Mr. Rutledge is survived by his wife of 27 years, Carol Eve Wiggins Rutledge, and children Tyler and Ali Rutledge, Will and Christina Ricks, and Anna Grace Rutledge. He is additionally survived by his three siblings: Phillip Rutledge, Jerry Rutledge, and Regina Thomas. Mr. Rutledge also cherished his extensive family, comprised of many in-laws and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Ralph Cleveland Rutledge took place on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Second Avenue Baptist Church in Rome. A fellowship reception was held at the church after the service until 2:00 p.m. A private burial service followed. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Rutledge requested for contributions to be made to Second Avenue Baptist Church, 823 E 2nd Avenue SW, Rome, GA 30161.
As Mr. Ralph Rutledge fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith, his life in Jesus Christ serves as a testimony that spurs us onward in love and good deeds.
