randy was one of he findest man i every know.  he will be greatly missed.

I will never forget meeting Sandy and Randy when they lived in Hickory Mountain.  Then seeing Randy and Matt at Georgia Highlands during all the Christmas Tournaments for many years was special.  I loved listening to the picks for the local football teams, and then the call in time on Friday night getting all the scores.  Just so many memories, I will never forget this fine, gentle man! Sandy, Elizabeth and Matt, may God bless you and give you strength and comfort.

I have known Randy for many decades and he was the best guy in the world. He broadcast several games that I coached over the years and always had a knack for inserting his knowledge of sports and facts to the radio audience. I was privileged to know him and be a friend. We are so saddened by his  death and with all of Rome, will miss him greatly. We continue to pray for his wonderful family and ask God to help them to continue Randy’s legacy! Heaven got a real champion!

I admired and appreciated Randy's love of radio, sports, and community.  He was a champion of all and will be missed.  

I first met Randy doing open tennis drills with Linda Holder. Sandy and Randy were also chaperones for the 6 th grade patrol trip to Washington DC. My son Thomas came back from that trip18 years ago and said y’all were awesome. So sorry to hear of such a fine southern gentleman leaving our presence here but know he is with our Lord in heaven and we who believe in our Lord and Savior will be together again. 😇

RD was kind enough to invite me to help him do some Rome Braves broadcasts back in 2004 and 2005, knowing my love for baseball. We did a 20 minute hilarious take on jarrod saltalamacchia one game and couldn’t stop laughing. That’s the kind of guy he was. I will miss his passion for not only broadcasting and baseball but people in general. He was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word. I will miss my friend. Rest easy my RD and may God Bless your family. 


My thoughts, prayers, and tears are for you all, Sandy, Matt, Elizabeth! What a wonderful , funny, kind, lovely man! I am blessed to have known him, and our community is blessed for him to have been one of our own. We are all better for it.

Our hearts are broken hearing the loss of a great friend . I have known Randy and Sandy 
for many years.  Especially since 1970 when we 
first met and we all decided to go camping in 
Panama City Beach in the summer.  We did have a lot fun and made a lot of memories we will never forget.  Praying for Sandy , Elizabeth and 
Matt and his family.  May God give you strength to get through each day.  We Love you all

We met Randy and his family in 1976 when we moved across the street from them  ,, we became friends and were neighbors for the next 25 years , our children grew up together , our daughters were great friends , we will miss his friendly voice on the Radio  , the whole county will miss him , fly with the Angels  Randy , see you again one day  , thanks for being a friend ...

This is going to hurt for a long time. I met Randy once but would see Him in town a lot. I didn't ever want to interrupt whatever they were doing. The "Later" show in the mornings was a highlight of the day and was a great way to remember what day it was. The sports score show on Friday nights with Lin was some of the BEST radio on radio as I would walk My Dog and listen with My headphones.
Thank You for many years of pure enjoyment. 
You are, and will be, missed greatly. 

In 1967 we (Sandy and I) were newly weds and lived next door to Randy and Sandy (also newly weds) on Lookout Circle in Rome.  We often remember those days in our honeymoon cottages on the hill.  We were saddened to hear of Randy's accident and untimely passing.  Our thoughts are with you and your family at this time.

I was bout 12 or 13 when i would go to Randys yard and we would play football. Then later on RANDY got in radio. I worked for him 3 times and have done the post game scoreborad show with him the last several years. We had so much fun on the show. I miss him . its hard to do it knowing he want be there anymore. Rip my friend. God bless!!!

Randy was a great person. He told me a funny story one time during the Christmas tournament. He said Danny, I can tell you I where I sat at State finals watching Coosa play , what I wore, what I ate and where the pay phone was. The funny thing is he also said I can’t tell you what I ate last night for dinner. He was telling the truth. He was a legend and he will be missed.

I never actually MET Randy, but was certainly familiar with his life's work. I am SO sorry for your great loss.  Earth's loss is Heaven's gain. God bless you all with peace and comfort during this sad time.

Randy remains a staple in my life. Seeing him every Friday for the past seven or so years has been a highlight! He is the most inquisitive man I have ever known and a kind gentle
Soul who was secure in who he was!

Randy was one of my best friends in Rome and Coosa High School. We did a lot of running around together, including one trip to Gatlinburg with his Mom and Dad. His Mom and Dad left to do their thing, and left Randy and I by ourselves to do what we wanted to do for 11 days. For two teenagers it was awesome! Also as teens I rode with him to Atlanta to talk to Columbia School of broadcasting when he was just getting started into radio. So many great memories with this wonderful, funny man. I love you my  friend, and will miss you forever. 

Sandy, so sorry to hear that Randy has passed.  We have been praying very hard for a miracle from GOD to heal him.    We know that he has been healed now .
We are continuing to pray for all the family .  We love you.
