

Mr. Fletcher was born in Richmond, Virginia March 3, 1945. He was the son of the late Robert Lee Fletcher Sr. and Anne Kennerly Steadman Fletcher.
Mr. Fletcher attended Colonial High School in Orlando, Florida. He also attended the University of Florida and the University of Central, Florida. He later joined the Air Force in 1965 and was stationed in Germany where he met his future wife Jeanette Catherine Fletcher. He returned to Orlando, Florida and began a career as an electrical engineer and partner with Tilden, Lobnitz & Cooper, Inc. of Orlando, Florida. He received his private pilot’s license in 1977. He retired from a career as a Sr. project manager and electrical engineer with Matern Professional Engineering of Maitland, Florida and then moved to Rome, GA. in 2005. He had a life-long passion for automobile racing. He loved sailing, always working on projects around the house, traveling and camping in their RV with his wife and grandchildren, and his most recent hobby was kayaking and loved teaching everyone how to kayak. He was a member and served on various committees of Trinity United Methodist Church of Rome, the American Legion Post 0005, the New Romans, the Rah Rah’s, Habitat for Humanity, Community Kitchen, 3rd Street Ministry, the Women of WORTH Clinic here in Rome, and traveled on a mission trip to Costa Rica sponsored by Trinity United Methodist. He was a “renaissance man” with a generous heart and love for his family and friends. He never met a stranger and had open arms to give hugs to all.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years Mrs. Jeanette Catherine Fletcher, two children Tanya M. Fletcher, R. Lee Fletcher III, his mother; Anne K. Fletcher, and two grandchildren Jack and Grant Fletcher all of Rome, GA.
A memorial service will be held Saturday May 16, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Thomas B. Griffin Memorial Chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home, with Dr. David Campbell officiating. The Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion will conduct military rites. The family will receive friends following the service.
