Robert Erwin Janke, age 98, passed away at a local hospital Sunday December 12, 2021. He was the son of the late Herbert Janke and Laura Braatz Janke. He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Janke. Mr. Janke was a WWII veteran that proudly served his country as a Marine. He was also a member of the U.S. Marine Corp League and the Georgia Mountain Music Club.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Janke of Rome; son, Ron Janke (Mary Ann) of Moreland Hills, Ohio; Daughters, Debra Scanlon (Ed) of Dallas, Texas, and Diane Fink (Leo) of Bethlehem, PA., one step-son Jerry Johnson, Jr of Houston, Texas, and one step-daughter, Teresa Battles of Armuchee, GA. Also surviving are 11 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2:00 P.M., December 16, 2021 at the Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Philip May officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to the Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church Music Ministry.
