Timothy Nelson

Mr. Timothy Paul Nelson (Tim), age 62, of Rome, passed away at a local hospital Friday January 15, 2016. Tim, the youngest of four children, was born on September 2, 1953 in Rome, GA. He was the son of the late Hubert Dean Nelson and Ruby Chastain Nelson. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Nellie Coley; a brother-in-law, Jerry Coley and a very special aunt, Eunice Garman.

He worked many years as an auditor of several companies around the Atlanta area. He was a graduate of Berry College with 2 Bachelor degrees. Tim was an avid scholar of religion, history, genealogy and had a special passion for cats. He had an unmistakable positive and humorous personality, a trait passed on from his father.

Survivors include his sister, Mary Nelson Armstrong (Robert); a brother, Michael Nelson; nieces Resa Patrick and Candace Beard (Jimmie); nephews, Rob Pruett (Sandy), Shawn Nelson, Daniel Nelson (Karla), Kinney Armstrong (Jaime); four great-nieces, one great-nephew, one great-great niece, many cousins and his special kitty Skeeter. The family may be reached at the residence, 8 Donley Drive, Rome, GA.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to be made to: Floyd Felines, P.O. Box 2364, Rome, GA. 30164 dedicated to saving the lives of cats, proper spaying/neutering and finding homes. Memorials may also be made to: Heyman Hospice Care, 420 East Second Avenue, Rome, GA. 30161 or Berry College, 2277 Martha Berry Hwy, Mt. Berry, GA. 30149

A private inurnment will be held at Floyd Memory Gardens at a later date.
