
A native of Heard County, Mrs. Shumake was born on October 4th, 1931 to the late Ezra and Effie Lou Akin Bivins.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Rome and The Covenant Sunday School Class.
Tokay was a retired nurse, worked at several florists in Rome and did a lot of volunteer work. She loved making quilts and all kinds of needle work. She also loved working in her flowers.
She was on the board of the Open Door Home, Y.M.C.A., Salvation Army and Pink Lady at Floyd Hospital for many years. And, she supported the Red Cross blood drive.
She was preceded in death by her husband Grady Boggs Sr., a brother, Myrle Bivins, a sister, Francis Parmer and five childhood siblings.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Shumake, a son and his wife, Grady and Tina Boggs Jr. of Douglasville, three daughters; Kay Settle andher husband, Rob. of Atlanta; Judy Coleman and her husband, Don, of Peachtree City; Jane Parr and her husband, Bill, of Atlanta. A stepson; Rodney Shumake and wife Lee Anne, of Douglasville and two stepdaughters; Lynne Anthonyand her husband, Timothy of Roswell and Leigh Maier of Roswell, 14 grandchildren, one great-grandchild. Also surviving are two sisters, Virginia Dover and her husband George of Rockmart; Lutrell Prince of Carrollton and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Saturday, March 31, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Daniel’s Funeral Home, 901 E 2nd Ave. in Rome. Services were Sunday, April 1, 2012, at 4 p.m. at the Daniel’s Funeral Home with the Dr. Joel Snider officiating, and special comments by Rev. Bill Davies and Judy Coleman. Interment followed at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
Those serving as pallbearers were James Crews, Marty Prince, Allen Prince, and David Arp.
Flowers were accepted or memorial contributions to First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 1189, Rome, GA 30162-1189.
