

Mr. Garrett was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Leon and Mary Virginia Garrett of Gadsden, AL and a brother, Kennith Eugene Garrett of Ooltewah, TN.
An adoring husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Garrett is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Margaret Ann (Sisco) Garrett; son, Joshua Leon Garrett and daughter-in-law, Laura of Mt. Airy, GA; daughter, Kristy Leann Harris and son-in-law, Jeffery Bohannon of Rome; three grandsons, Sean Garrett Harris of Rome, Jackson David and Samuel Boyd Garrett of Mt. Airy.
Mr. Garrett is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Cindy Sisco Paratain (Roger) of Springboro, OH and Patsy Garrett of Ooltewah, TN; nephew, Derek McKinney (Joy) of Bayside, NY; niece, Leigh Partain Buchanan (Matt) of Daphne, AL; nephew, Ryan McKinney of Rome, GA; niece, Gina Garrett Esch (Robby) of Hixson, TN; three great-nephews and two great-nieces.
A memorial service was held Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Garden Lakes Baptist Church with Dr. Jimmy Gentry and Dr. Floyd Roebuck officiating. Receiving of friends was held Friday, July 22, 2016 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the church.
Mr. Garrett was born in Gadsden, AL on August 22, 1947 and was a graduate of Emma Sansom High School and Jacksonville State University. Mr. Garrett also served honorably in the United States Navy. For more than 30 years, Mr. Garrett served as a minister of music in a number of churches.
Mr. Garrett was an active member of Garden Lakes Baptist Church, having served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and a faithful choir member.
The family wishes to express gratitude for the compassion and attentive care of the responding paramedics and deputy coroner Daniel Helton.
