Vieva Cline Byars

Mrs. Byars was born in Calhoun on May 8, 1927, the daughter of the late Walter O. Cline and Sudie Erwin Cline. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Leroy Byars, in 1980 and by a daughter, Carol Byars Brinson, on November 5, 2005.

Mrs. Byars retired from Battey State Hospital, now Northwest Regional Hospital, and was a member of the Battey Retirees Group. She was a member of the Fifth Avenue Baptist Church and the Happy Timers Senior Adult Group.

Survivors include two sons, Timothy G, Byars, and his wife, Lisa, Marietta, and Louis C. Byars, and his wife, Gina, Rome; two daughters, Elaine B. Selman, and her husband, Greg, Rome, and Ann B. Flanders, Athens; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and two sisters, Emogene Corbin, and her husband, Clell, Marietta, and Marie Hobbs, Marietta.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 19, 2011, at 1 p.m. at the Griffin Memorial Chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Hearne officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

Family members served as pallbearers.

The family received friends in the chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home on Saturday from 12 noon until 1 p.m.
