Mrs. Mary Vivian Olson

It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Mary Vivian Olson late of Rosetown on February 13, 2014 at the age of 87 years. Mary is survived by her sons Chris (Sonja) Olson of Plenty and Glenn (Joan) Olson of Plenty; daughters Sharon (George) Patenaude of Rosetown and Valerie (Todd) Olson of Twin Oaks, Oklahoma, USA; 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson; sister Lois (George) Swan; sister-in-law Jackie Fines; brothers-in-law Gerald (Dorothy) Olson and Walter McDonald and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Tom in 2007, her parents John & Myrtle Fines, sisters Janet Daniels, Hazel Quinney, Bernice Johnston, Mable McCuaig; brothers Elmer Fines and Robert Fines; brothers-in-law Daniel Olson, George Daniels, Henry Quinney, John Johnston, Ken McCuaig and Bob Arsenault; sisters-in-law Orlis Fines, Katey Olson, Eileen McDonald and Vi Arsenault and infant great-grandchildren Keeley Pocha and Connel Patenaude. Mary was born in Stranraer, SK on October 6, 1926. She received her education at Toft Hill School. On October 11, 1945, Mary married Tom Olson and together they raised four children on the farm. Mary was a homemaker and drove school bus for many years. In 1982, Tom and Mary moved to Rosetown and Glenn and Joan & family moved to the family farm. In 1977, Tom and Mary began to enjoy the winters in Arizona. They spent two winters in Mesa and then 28 years at Countryside Trailer Park in Apache Junction. Interment of Mary’s cremated remains will be held at a later date at the family farm of Glenn & Joan Olson beside her husband Tom. Mary’s urn was specially made by her brother-in-law George Swan. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the Alex Ositis Foundation or to the Rosetown & District Health Center Foundation.
