Florence Elizabeth Zimmer passed away peacefully in Roseville on May 3rd from natural causes at the age of 96. She was born in rural North Dakota on January 6, 1929 where she grew up on a farm. Her family moved to California, where she attended Manteca High School and graduated in 1947. She worked as a volunteer “candy striper” caring for patients at Stockton’s St. Joseph’s Hospital and consequently met Raymond Zimmer. The two would later marry after he served overseas during the Korean conflict and returned home as a newly discharged U.S. Army Sergeant. They moved to the Bay Area, had two children, and ultimately wound up in San Bruno where they raised them. A lifelong Catholic, she attended both St. Robert’s and St. Bruno’s Parishes.
Florence was a wonderful woman dedicated to her husband and family. She was honorable, loving, a homemaker, and always remained strong in her Christian belief. Her faith in Jesus and unconditional love for others served as a guiding light to those around her. She will be greatly missed.
Florence Elizabeth Zimmer is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond R. Zimmer. She is survived by her two children: Christopher (Charles) Zimmer and Connie (Frances) Nahmens, and by 2 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Florence is also preceded in death by a brother, Leroy of Hawaii where countless of her relatives reside to this day.
Florence will be laid to rest at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
