

Philip Payne, a Loomis resident for 46 years, went home to be with the Lord on August 18th, 2018 at the age of 81. Philip is survived by his wife, Agnes, daughters Pam Scott of Antelope and Tammy Amaral of Davis, grandchildren Keith Brau, Sarah Ferrell, and TJ Sims and many beloved nephews and nieces. He was proceeded in death by five brothers (Tommy, Ken, Rodger, Charles and Anthony) and three sisters (Virginia, Norma and Sherry).
Phil was born in Rocklin on April 1, 1937. He was a four-year veteran of the United States Air Force. He joined in 1955 and was stationed at Travis Air Force Base in California, McChord AFB in Washington, and Scott AFB in Illinois. He married Agnes in June of 1957. He worked for the city of Roseville for over 25 years as an electrician before retiring. He was a lover of antiques, and operated spaces in antique shops in Roseville, Rancho Cordova, and Grass Valley. He enjoyed 4-wheeling and camping, mastering the Rubicon and Sierra Trek many times in the 1970s and 80s with a great group of long-time friends calling themselves the “Oly Rollers.” A gravesite service with military honors will be held at Newcastle Cemetery on Friday, August 24th at 1:30pm with a reception to follow at his home in Loomis.
