Avid sports lover, Aerojet employee and leader of the pack, Richard Sidor Bell, known by his closest friends as "R Bell", age 59, left this earthly life on Sunday, August 4, 2013. Born August 26, 1953 in Sacramento, CA, the third child of James Douglas Bell, Sr (deceased) and Alda Stizzo Bell (deceased), Rick is survived by his sister Gail Bell, brother James Douglas Bell, Jr, sister in law Nancy Bell, brother David Bell (deceased), cousins Steven, Curtis, Lora and Gordon Stizzo, Carol Ann Hadley, Joan Cochran, John Elorduy and aunt Patricia Gearhart . After receiving his BA in Physical Education from Chico State, Rick became a coach and teacher for Mesa Verde and Casa Roble High School, where he mentored young athletes in basketball and baseball. Shortly after, he began a long and rewarding career in leadership with Aerojet where staff, customers and colleagues have noted he will be sorely missed for his capacity to get things done. Ricks appreciation of sports started with his own excellence as an athlete at a young age. From a great golf game to a morning run to a hike in the mountains, he was always moving...even if it was on his Big Dog motorcycle down the street with friends to his favorite hang out. He was the "conduit" for all functions and gatherings, bringing varying generations of friends together with laughter, fun and a heart of love that cannot be matched. As a man who loved the Lord, Rick did not hesitate to serve, including a recent adventure to Mexico to build houses for impoverished families with his church. Ricks willingness and ability to share his multiple transformations and experiences in life made him real and authentic. Always stepping up for his friends at the last minute and holding court at his home with his welcoming, caring nature, whether it be for a football game on TV or a glass of wine to talk, Rick was one of a kind. Rick's loyalty, compassion, honesty, commitment, strength of character and love for his friends will be missed beyond mere words and leaves a legacy of amazing memories to be cherished by all that were blessed to know him. Service will be held: Friday, August 9, 2013 at 2pm - Lamberts Funeral Home, 400 Douglas Blvd, Roseville, CA Refreshments to follow: Cattle Rustlers, 7040 Sunrise Blvd, Citrus Heights, CA 95610
