

After a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease, our angel received his wings and passed to Heaven on January 16, 2012. He put up a good fight but his Heavenly Father decided it was time for him to go home.
Robert Eugene Wegner was born on March 16, 1933 in Beloit, Wisconsin. His mother, Lois Anna Cora (Ellis) Wegner and father, Wallace Carl Wegner and big brother Warren Wallace Wegner welcomed him home where he spent his early childhood charming the neighbors, entering Soap Box Derby's, selling newspapers during WWII, and enjoying both winter and summer sports. Sister Barbara Lois (Wegner) Thornsen arrived in 1943 and in 1948 the family relocated ti Montebello, California.
In 1950 Bob joined the U. S. Marine Corp Air Reserve in Los Alamitos, CA and shortly after graduation from Montebello High School in 1952 went on active duty during the Korean War.
Married to Bertie Ann (Lindsay) Wegner in 1955 they were blessed with 3 children, Cathy Ann (Wegner) West, Christopher Robert Wegner and Connie Lois (Wegner) Ratley. Their children in turn blessed them with 6 grandchildren and 2 great daughters.
Bob utilized the electronic education her received in the Marines and upon his discharge worked for Beckman Intruments, North American Aviation in Downey, California and then became a Wood Patternmaker. He later worked at Rockwin Corporation learning the pre-stressed concrete business and worked on projects that included the Library Building at the university of California in Fullerton, CA. And then, with a partner, opened Tech-Art in Norwalk, CA and they started their own unique concrete business. They built and erected the Armenian Memorial that is located in the park in Montebello, CA. Other projects included work on the Belmont High School in Los Angeles. Tech-Art built a pedestal and installed an Apollo Space Capsule that was given by NASA to the United Auto Workers, Local 887, to honor their efforts in the space program.
In 1978 Bob and Ann relocated from Cypress, California to the Nothern California village of Meadow Vista and became involved in the retail business. At one time Bob, with the help of his children and their families, was operating Silk Outlet stores in Auburn, Citrus Hts., Folsom, Placerville, Rancho Cordova, California; and in Nevada, stores in Sparks and Carson City.
A happy, hardworking guy with a great sense of humor and quick wit, he lived his life with honesty and integrity and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He provided them with many happy memories that will sustain them until they meet again. Since his retirement he treasured his home on a little lake in Fall River Mills, California and thoroughly enjoyed Trout fishing, boating, gardening and entertaining family and friends.
A private family Masonic burial service will be held at the Pine Grove Cemetery in McArthus, California on January 30, 2012. A Celebration of his Life will take place at the Park in Meadow Vista, CA on March 18th (weather permitting) or at his daughter's home in Roseville, CA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his honor to the M. J. Fox Parkinson's Foundation may help someone else.
