Both Edith and Wayne are from Roseville having lived on ranches near and in what is now Granite Bay.
Wayne’s grandparents raised him on their 2,000 acre ranch, half of which is now underwater at Folsom Lake.
Wayne’s heritage in the Roseville area goes back to 1887 when his forefathers came by covered wagon.
Edith lived in a smaller spread nearby and met Wayne, she was 12 years old when Wayne’s grandparents moved cattle to graze on her property. Both have no other siblings. Wayne and Edith dated for several years and married in 1963.
Wayne went to Chico State where he majored in Social Science and Animal Husbandry. He was also a three sport athlete playing basketball, baseball and football. After attending school he started his work career with Breuners Home Furnishings in Sacramento managing their flooring Dept.
He then went to work for David Steinbach Co. where he was in regional sales for all northern California, from Fresno up to the Oregon border, including the state of Nevada, for 20 years, “a great company to work for.”
They have traveled extensively by cruise line; the most enduring was being caught in a cyclone when traveling from Sidney, Australia with their son and friends. They were the only group abroad ship that did not get sea sick and that included the crew.
Wayne enjoyed playing tennis and spending time with friends at the Del Norte Tennis Club. Wayne was also an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with family.
