

Wayne was born Oct. 10, 1938 in Reno, Nevada. His father was Viggo Pedersen from Denmark and his mother was Freda T. Pedersen. He was the first member of his family born in a hospital. He lived a few years in Nevada then the family of Freda and daughters Pat and Barbara and baby Wayne moved to California setting finally in Sacramento.
Wayne enlisted in the USCG when he was 17years old and spent 4 years on the sea and in Alameda. He loved the service and was very proud of having served this great country.
In Oct of 1960, he was hired by Raley’s and began his career in Reno opening up the first store on Mt. Rose and Virginia St. He was able to return to that store in 1967 as Store Manager. In 1978, he accepted the position as Director of Alcoholic Beverages for California and Nevada. Once again, back to California where he remained for almost 40 years. He retired the first time in 1993 but returned in 1998 as a merchandizer until 2008.
Wayne was married for 57 years to Elizabeth and was a loving and caring husband and father to Christian (Bonita), John (Jodeen), Kimberly (Robert) and Tracy (David). Wayne also leaves behind his eight grandchildren Kristan, Madison, Lauren, Garrett, Kyra, Owen, Jenna and Sam. Also his two cousins Joyce Raley Teel and Ferole Lee Corbet, Beverly Dwyer, Pat French, Judy Breza, Susan Curtis and Connie Allen and the late Kathy French.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, July 28, 2018, 10am at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church 615 Vine Ave Roseville, CA 95678. Refreshments to follow service directions will be provided at church. Inurnment will take place Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 11AM. Sacramento Valley National Cemetery 5810 Midway Rd. Dixon, CA 95620
