Doug - you were a wonderful human being! I always enjoyed our talks about golf while in the office.  You knew your courses and your storytelling was spot on! May you Rest In Peace and enjoy your first round on the other side.

My heart is filled with sorrow when hearing of Doug's passing.  There was never a day at work where he was not smiling, laughing and taking the time to have some small talk with you.  Even through his illness, his outlook on life was promising.  I never heard him complain.  A day without seeing Doug was like a day without having your morning coffee.  A genuine, caring man; we were humbled by his kindness.   He was very much appreciated by all those who knew him at Volkswagen.  My heartfelt sympathy to his family.  Anna Tate

I have many fond memories of Doug through the years.  Snowmobiling up North,  playing volleyball at our house parties, sitting in his yard laughing and reminiscing about the “good old days” and most recently visiting us during my daughters illness to laugh and cheer us up.  But I would be remiss not to mention his unwavering love and care he had for his mother during her last years.  What a fantastic job he did.  It is very sad to lose him at such a early age.  We will miss you.  Our deepest sympathies to his entire family.  

Doug was my work "rival". LOL. We would give a "oh God, not you again" every time we'd pass in the hallway or while sharing the elevator. Doug brought so many bright moments to so many at VWGoA and his presence will not be forgotten. My condolences to the family and friends of this spit-fire of a human. All my love, Jessica K.

I have known Doug for more than 30 years and I am very proud to call him my friend.  The things I remember most about Doug is how he took very good care of Mrs. Di.  The responsibilities and care Doug took with Mrs. Di in her declining years was wonderful.  When he lived with Mike, he made sure the grass was cut, edged, snow was plowed, and sidewalks were clear of ice at Mrs. Di’s.  The house was pristine when you drove by the DiFilippo’s.  Doug of course, had his grumpy moments, but he never showed that side to me.  I loved him even more of that!  The best part about Doug is when Greg and I painted our deck in the backyard, Doug was there to help.  Not to mention the temperature was 90’ that day.  He picked up a bush and, on his hands and knees, got in the cracks…  Greg call him and Doug said, “when brother Louis calls you come”.  This is the side of Doug I remember and love.  He will always be in my heart and never forgotten.  Play golf with Brian in heaven, hug Paul and kiss Tara.  I Love and will miss you Doug! 

I met Doug through our daily interactions at Volkswagen.   Our whole team loved talking with him.  He was such fun to talk with and he had some good stories too!  He was always in a good mood and so easygoing.  Such a nice guy.  I will miss him very much and am very sad at his passing.  
I am sorry for your loss and hope you can find comfort that he is now at peace. 

I met Doug 7 years ago on my first trip to the Garland Golf Resort with him and his long time friends. I shared a room with him once in Garland (never again), that man could shake the walls with his snoring. Doug was a great guy and if you were fortunate enough to know him, you were blessed.  He will continue to live thru us and our stories of him as we will toast him each year on our golf trip to Garland.  I will miss you buddy, rest in peace. Travis


Childhood memories are some of the most cherished keepsakes to hold dear to your heart - especially as we grow old. I know because I have known my buddy Doug for over 50 years.  I am forever grateful for all that time we spent together.  Playing basketball in the backyard when we were 12 years old.  Waxing our hotrods in the shade and snowmobiling together when we were in our 20s.  Throwing some of the best parties ever while living together in our 30s.  Going up north camping and kayaking in our 40s.  I could go on and on.   I wish I could go back in time and relive these moments again.   You will be missed my friend.  A life long friend is hard to find, hard to loose and impossible to forget.  Love ya brother.  Rest in peace!


We all still get together today for one reason or another.  



Doug was one of my favorite workday run-ins. He always took the time to say hi and catch up and I always enjoyed our interactions, no matter how brief. My heart is heavy with his passing and he will truly be missed. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

I had the pleasure of working with Doug at VW. He was a great guy and I consider him a friend. It is truly a great loss.

My thoughts are with you in this time of grief.  He's at peace now and spending time with mom, dad and Dale.  Love you all.
