Mary Jane DeBruyne

Mary Jane DeBruyne, 88, of Clinton Township, MI passed away on June 12, 2025, joining her husband of 59 years Leon DeBruyne, her parents Calogero and Rose Dattolo, and her brothers John, Charles (Marie), and Harry (Fran). She will be immeasurably missed by her children Karen (Tim) Schill, Robert (Sandi), John (Dawn) and Lee (Kim); her grandchildren Scott, Jennifer, Alyssa, Michael, Shelby and Ryan; great grandchildren Colt and Grant; and countless friends and family.

Mary Jane was born in Detroit, MI on May 21, 1937, married on April 22, 1961, and moved to St. Clair Shores where she resided for 60 years, lovingly blending her Sicilian heritage with Leon’s raucous Belgian upbringing, doing so with extraordinary selflessness and her love of seeing those around her prosper and succeed. A self-proclaimed master at scheduling, Mary Jane always had a detailed note-filled clipboard and calendar handy as she smoothly juggled her family’s school, sports, and personal activities which transitioned into her roles on the welcoming and activities committees at her senior apartment complex. She was an avid Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, Michigan Wolverines football fan.

Mary Jane will be inurned at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, MI. Family and friends will join each other for a memorial gathering later this year. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity on her behalf.
