Mary was the eldest of 4 daughters born to James and Florence Greenan in Detroit, Michigan.  She is preceded in passing by her husband Ken, and her younger sisters Doris and Patricia.
Mary was blessed with over 62 years of marriage to her soulmate, Ken.  Ken passed on a year ago and is surely standing at the gates to welcome her in.  I’m sure St. Peter is happy to have Mary with him so Uncle Ken will stop asking “Where’s Mary?” She is most definitely making him a half sandwich with a half glass of milk.
She continued her role as the cornerstone of the Greenan family by opening her home and her heart to her sister Doris’ children, Michael, Barbara, and Larry Torina.  She truly raised them as her own. They were her heart and reason for being.  She was a great Mother. She loved those children.
Over the years Mary’s home became a haven for a multitude of children.  She was “Everyone’s” Aunt Mary.  Mary provided a stable and loving environment as a home day care provider for many years.
Not only did she open her home to her sister Doris’ children, but she also welcomed her sister Helen’s eldest daughter Patricia.  She gave Patty a safe and caring base to attend high school for four years.  She provided an excellent example of what a responsible woman should be.
This was a pattern that Mary and Ken followed throughout their life. She took excellent care of her Mother-in-law Aunt Carrie until her last days. They hosted multiple generations of family whenever they needed help.  No one was ever left without, as long as Aunt Mary was here.
After the children moved on, Mary went back to work and school.  She obtained her Master Gardener certificate while working part time at Arby’s and keeping her home for Uncle Ken.  She was a superhero.
Holidays were always a special event at Mary and Ken’s place.  She would have every available space filled with home cooked food and baked goods.  Her cookies were legendary.

Aunt Mary was so loving and caring. Every thing she did was always for someone else, always the caretaker.  She loved so deeply so unconditional, she fostered me for four years so I could get a good safe education. She tought me how to cook and bake and most importantly how to love and care for others. I will forever be grateful for the time we had together.

She was "Aunt" Mary to every neighborhood child, friend, distant relative, people at church....  All of my siblings stayed at her house for lengthy periods of time either to get better public education (Patricia & Joe) or just to  get spoiled by their love for Summer vacations (Me, Florence).  She and Uncle Ken took in my brother Roger and nephews Anthony and Jeremy when they needed help.  Their house was THE PLACE for every holiday, every gathering of family for most of my life.  I am certain she is smiling down on us with Uncle Ken enjoying an endless supply of coffee  in the most BEAUTIFUL garden ever (Oh and Uncle Ken finally has her ther to make his HALF a sandwich and HALF a glass of milk).   Can't wait to read everyone else's stories on here.  There are SOOOO many.

Aunt Mary was a special person, with a great sense of humor and love for everyone. I remember when we were kids,  all of us loading up the cars with uncle Jack and Shirley with Mom (Rosemary ) and Dad (Gerald) Antille and all us kids, for our big trip to the USA to see Uncle Ken and Aunt Mary. We had such great times, big extended family Bbq's. The weekends seemed to just fly by. Aunt Mary always made this great pasta salad with Italian dressing. Those were the days. Ken always used the riding mower to cut the grass to get ready for the festivities.  Memories are great things to have and thanks to the kindhearted Ness of these two wonderful people. Their memories will live on, may they both now rest in peace together again for all eternity.  God bless.
