

Artie Preston Garner Jr., of Dunwoody, age 86, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2011. Born in Aliquippa, PA on December 18, 1924 he was the first child of Myrtle and Artie Garner, Sr. He was preceded in death by his two sisters Gloria Tudor Walker, Anna Ribar and great grandson, Matthew Bradley. Mr. Garner was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy during World War ll. He attended Kent State University where he studied journalism. While attending Kent State, he was editor of the Kent Stater, the weekly university newspaper. He began his career as a reporter for the Kent Ravenna Courier Tribune. In 1952 he began a 23 year career with Ford Motor Company in public relations. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed reading. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Norma and sons, Artie Preston Garner lll, (EJ), James Herbert Garner (Sylvia), and daughter Bonnie Garner Busbin, (Bill). Other survivors include his sister Phyllis Ferguson, grandchildren Scott, Jason, Jeremy, Miles, Jessica, Shelby, Blake and Stacie. Great grandchildren, Shane, Sebastian, Zachary, Anna and Emma. Visitation will be Tues. Jan. 25, 2011 from 10:30 -11: 00 AM with a life celebration service to be held following at 11AM.
