Barbara Livingston Grimm passed away peacefully on the morning of January 29, 2026. Born in Chicago, Illinois on August 25, 1938, and raised in Bloomington, IL, the daughter of Herbert M. Livingston and Hannah Ochs Livingston. She leaves behind her husband of 61 years, John E. Grimm, daughter Stacey Grimm Micheli (Bob), granddaughters Hannah Livingston Micheli and Allie Grimm Micheli, and daughter Wendy Grimm.
At a young age, Barbara’s parents exposed her to travel and the arts. She passed both passions onto her husband and family. She and John traveled all over the USA and across the globe. When her daughters were in high school, she returned to finish her BFA at Memphis State University and became a middle school art teacher in Germantown, TN. She continued teaching art at two middle schools in Fulton County after relocating to Atlanta, until her retirement in 2003. She mentored and kept in touch with many creative students. There was always an art class in her basement at home, or a student on her potter’s wheel. She was a firm believer in always learning, and would continue her art education by attending summer art camps, membership in art guilds, and by painting with close friends.
Barbara was always on the move – whether it was Yoga or fitness classes at the gym. She was an avid walker, and knew most people in their Huntcliff neighborhood of almost 40 years, and across her favorite walking trails along the Chattahoochee River and Big Creek Park, and in her retirement community Celebration Village.
She was loved and will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
