Ben was born in Nashville, Tennessee to Hume and Gladys Bracy on September 15, 1939. He attended Hillsboro High School, where he met the love of his life, Joyce Curry, at age 15. It was love at first sight, and they were married two years later in 1956.
Ben was a family man. He is survived by his wife and longtime sweetheart, Joyce Curry Bracy, their children, and their families: Ben Bracy “Chip” (deceased), and his wife Teri Bracy; Norma Lee Bracy (deceased); Debbie Bracy Magid, her husband Jonathan Magid and their daughter Mackenzie Magid.
Ben knew the value of hard work and set an example every day. He joined Western Electric (AT&T) at age 19 and also worked part-time jobs to help provide for his family. After 30 years he retired from AT&T and continued working in that industry for several more years. When he decided to finally, actually, retire, he worked at The Home Depot “just for something to do”. The last job he held was as a Fulton County bus driver. He loved “his kids” as he called them and took the responsibility of getting them home safely very seriously.
Ben loved buying new cars. He loved his trucks. He loved his Jeep. He loved riding on his boat. He loved taking Sunday afternoon drives with his wife and children and granddaughter. He really loved doing yard work. You could catch him outside on sunny days, planting and mowing and raking until he got his yard just so. Ben was a fixer. He could figure out how to repair almost anything. He liked working with his hands, taking things apart and putting them back together. He built an addition to two different homes. Ben always found something to do.
Ben liked to keep things ship shape, organized and clean. He was always busy doing something. One thing we know, Heaven must be in a messy state if God asked Ben to come home!
