Carla lived with multiple difficulties including cerebral palsy, due to her premature birth at 28 weeks. Later in life she struggled with anxiety and bipolar disorder. Despite her challenges she led a full and engaging life. She traveled to Puerto Rico and Trinidad on mission trips and to Mexico for college study. She was a graduate of Roswell High School and Converse College where she majored in Deaf Education and Spanish. With the help of supported employment she spent her last 14 years working at the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) for the State of Georgia.
Though her own burdens were significant, she never ceased to carry the struggles of many others in her heart, and shared often about those she knew were hurting.
Carla sought out ways to communicate with others who were often overlooked. She had many opportunities to bless others with her language skills including tutoring, teaching ESL classes, mission trips, and one on one conversations with hearing impaired or Spanish speaking friends.
Carla’s interests included Bible study, writing poetry, singing, solving a variety of puzzles, crafts, volunteering, enjoying a good meal with friends and family, and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Carla loved Jesus Christ, and had a sincere desire to please Him. Her faith, joy, and compassion for others reached around the world. We are comforted knowing the joy she must have felt to be able to run for the very first time into the arms of her Savior. She is survived by her parents, Lewis and Joanne Miller of Roswell, sister Rebecca Steffy (Eric) of Telford, PA, nephew Dan, and nieces Lauren, Natalie and Sarah, twin sister Audrey Bennett (John) of Alpharetta, nephews Johnny, Graham, Tim, Asher and niece Abbey. She will be deeply missed by her family and special friends who knew and loved her well.
