Kevin Cherry passed away on February 7th surrounded by all his loved ones, just the way he dreamed of. He very much believed in living wide, going above and beyond his bucket list.
With a Bachelor's degree in economics from Penn State University and an MBA in Finance from Wharton, Kevin enthusiastically pursued a career in management consulting at Deloitte Consulting and in marketing at The Coca-Cola Company and General Electric. He was an avid scuba diver, skier, rower and hiker. Kevin loved the outdoors and was always down for a good adventure.
For example, he discovered on his first open water dive in Tahiti, that he was unwittingly on a shark feeding. He also went hiking Angel’s Landing in Zion National Park which has a 1,400’ sheer drop on each side, even with a fear of heights. He ate grilled scorpions in China on a dare, and fell on a cactus while hiking in Bonaire – one of the quills needing to be removed by a doctor from his right buttock.
He was a multifaceted jokester, and was known for having the best sense of humor, he could always brighten any ones day, with a smile on his face and an infectious laugh. Kevin was often up to some sort of shenanigans with his rowing friends, but he loved to be teased as much as he teased. When his daughter was young, she once warned a friend “don’t believe a word my Daddy says.” Of all his accomplishments in his life, he was most proud of being a loving father. His focus and priority was always on his friendships and relationships, even to the end he was most concerned with how comfortable his guests were around him, and not on his own suffering. He used to say that he defined his wealth by the quality of his relationships and friendships and by what he was able to give. He is survived by his daughter Katie, mother Mary, his sister and niece Cindy and Isabella, and his precious Belgian Malinois, Kane.
He would appreciate any ones donations be made to the prostate cancer foundation.
