Charles Thomas McGinley “Tom”, passed away July 28, 2025 at the age of 91. He was born in Pearisburg, Virginia on October 20, 1934 to Mr. Ernest Everett McGinley and Mrs. Catherine Elizabeth McGinley (maiden name Bunch).
Tom was a beloved brother, father, and grandfather who will always be remembered for his unique personality and his love for trains, carpentry, automobiles, and his dedication to family.
Tom was an accomplished Civil Engineer who acquired his master's at Georgia Tech. He supervised the development of many bridges, trains, and underground subways, with his biggest accomplishment being the project manager of the MARTA Rail in Atlanta, Georgia. His artistry in carpentry will live forever on in the households of many.
Tom will be deeply missed by his children, Patton, Elizabeth, Michael, and John; his siblings, Patton, Ann, Michael, and Ernest; and his grandchildren, Madison, Maura, Jared, Elizabeth, Liam, Killian, and Michael.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Billie, and sister, Susan.
A Celebration of Life will be held later for Tom. In lieu of flowers we ask for your condolences, thoughts and prayers. The thoughts and memories of Tom will forever be cherished.
