

ROSWELL, GA. -- Funeral services for Charles Wilburn Norton will be held at 2 pm Saturday, December 19, 2015, at St. David's Episcopal Church in Roswell, GA. The Rev'd Kenneth Swanson and The Rev'd Anne Elizabeth Swiedler will officiate. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
Mr. Norton died peacefully in his sleep on November 28, 2015. He is survived by his daughter, Katherine N. Montana (Hernando) of Roswell, his three grandchildren, Elizabeth M. Weaver (Randy), Charles and Sarah Montana, and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Norton's wife of 59 years, Katherine Ross Norton, passed away in 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Roy W. Norton and Hazel Margret Heald Norton, and his four siblings: Lyndon and Roland Norton, Lois N. Henley and Jean N. Morgan.
Born January 19, 1928, in Healdton, OK, Mr. Norton joined the U.S. Navy in 1945, at the age of 17; he remained in service until 1967. His sea duty was mainly in the Pacific, but he also served four years at S.H.A.P.E. in Paris, France. After retiring from the Navy, Mr. Norton became a systems analyst for Seibels Bruce Insurance Co. in Columbia, SC. He retired fully in 1990. He and his wife moved to Roswell, GA in 2009.
Mr. Norton will be remembered as a quiet man who had a kind, humble and loving spirit; a very sharp mind; a quick smile; and a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed raising and training dogs, traveling, reading, his home in the NC mountains, music and dancing -- especially square dancing.
