Mr. Christopher Alphonsus Filberg, age 58, of Alpharetta, Georgia passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022. Chris was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on April 29, 1964 to his late father, Mr. Frederick Francis Filberg Jr. and mother, Frances Nuala McCann Filberg.
Chris grew up in Drexel Hill, PA and went to high school and college in Canton, Ohio. Chris received his bachelor’s degree in Business from Walsh University in 1986. He was very proud of his rich Irish heritage and loved visiting family members in Ireland as often as he could. It was on a summer visit in 1984 when he met the love of his life, Carmel Dornan. The two were introduced through mutual family and instantly fell in love. They married in Belfast, Northern Ireland on August 31, 1991. Together they made Atlanta, Georgia home. Chris spent twenty-five years in the food and beverage industry eventually transitioning into internet cars sales until his recent retirement. Chris had an amazing sense of humor, always the ‘life of the party’, and was an excellent story teller. He commanded the room and all family, friends and even strangers were instantly drawn to him. He was kind, selfless, giving, a comforter, and an incredible husband, father and friend. Most importantly, he was a family man. Chris fiercely loved his wife and his greatest joy came from being a father to his children. He cherished his parents and siblings. He gave his family an unconditional love that fills their hearts more and more with each passing day. Chris was a wonderful son, husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend; he will most certainly be missed by all who knew and loved him. He will be especially missed by his and Carmel’s families in Ireland.
Chris is survived by his loving wife of thirty years, Carmel Filberg; three children, Rory Thomas Frederick Filberg, Enya Rose Filberg, and Alanna Marie Filberg all of Alpharetta, Georgia; his mother, Frances Nuala Filberg of Canal Fulton, Ohio; three siblings, Frederick Filberg (Maureen) of Laurel, Delaware, Mary Frances Compton of Massillon, Ohio, and Andrew Filberg (Audra) of Hartville, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Along with his father, Chris is preceded in death by his beloved dog, Pedie Francis Filberg.
