As the story has been told, when she came into this world her mother, Sophie, held her in her arms and heard a song on the radio with the lyrics “Constant Joy”. Hence, her name.
In the Summer of 1954, Mom fell in love with Richard E. Nolan (Rich, Richie, Dick, Dad, Pop-Pop Richie). Dad spent summers as a lifeguard on the beach in the resort town of Lavallette, NJ. “He had a great smile and nice legs” according to Mom! They were married on June 10, 1956, and spent over 68 years together as husband and wife. Dad cherished the ground Mom walked on. He loved spending time with her. From the simple Sunday drives after church and lunch, to the extensive travel to over 32 countries (we have the videos to prove it!), they most enjoyed their excursions to the casinos! They never won big, but they loved it!
“More than the greatest love the world has known
This is the love that I give to you, alone
More than the simple words, I try to say
I only live to love you more, each day”
Mom was gifted with a great sense of humor and a devilish spirit. We oftentimes felt like we were living with Lucy and Ethel! She was funny, told great stories (dialects included). She was the life of the party and always made you feel welcome and wanted to know everything about you. She was the perfect complement to funny man Richie Nolan! And to top it all off, man was she a “looker”!
She is survived by her husband of nearly 69 years, Richard E. Nolan, daughters Lynn Holcomb of Boca Raton, FL, Gail Terrell-Crane (Michael) of Alpharetta, GA, Jill Morris (Robert) of St. Johns, FL, and son Ken (Betsy) of Cumming, GA. Grandchildren: Chase (Lindsey) Holcomb, Taylor Holcomb (Juan) Tapia, Ryan, Berkley & Carson Nolan, Reeves & Trace Terrell, Bailey Morris (Joe) Sera, Brooke Morris, and Great-Grandsons Landon & Liam Holcomb. A third Great-Grandchild is due on her birthday, March 13th. Sister In-Law, Cathy Russell, many cousins, with whom she remained very close to throughout her life, many nieces and nephews who adored her.
She was preceded in death by her father Henry E. Russell (1971), mother Sophie E. Russell (2005), and brother, Kenneth H. Russell, who passed on October 1, 2024. We hope she won’t be too angry with us when they run into each other in Heaven, as we never had the opportunity to tell her!
The family would like to express its gratitude and thanks to all of the compassionate care givers at Northside Forsyth Hospital and Capstone Hospice who attended to her every need over the past few weeks. And a special thanks to Father Paul Flood for being there for her. Thank you for giving us additional time.
Moja droga, ja cie kocham means that I love you so
Kocham ciebie całym serce means Love you with all my heart
