

Mr. Curry Paul “Pete” Kojis, Jr., 96 departed this life on August 3, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family in Johns Creek, GA, an Atlanta surburb. Curry was born January 25, 1915 in Addis, Louisiana. He was raised and educated in Bunkie, LA and then attended St. Joseph Seminary College in St. Benedict, LA for two years. He met and married his wife, Eva, a Texas girl, in his hometown of Bunkie. At the beginning of World War ll, they returned to Texas where Curry worked in the aircraft industry at Consolidated Aircraft. He then served as foreman for T.E. Mercer, in White Oak and in Fort Worth, TX, managing a maintenance program for mechanical work on trucks running pipe to the oilfield for 26 years. He worked another 10 years with Southwest Wheel and Manufacturing until he retired in 1981. He and Eva raised and educated four daughters. In 1996, they moved from Forth Worth, their home of 35 years, to Atlanta, GA to live with their daughter, Mary. At the time of Eva’s death, Curry and Eva had been married almost 69 years. Curry was an Honorary Lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include: his daughters, Cecilia James, Frances Schmid, Miriam Kettler, and Mary Kojis; grandchildren, Rob James, Kim Smith, Cecilia Ogden, Kristy Vaughan, Mary Eastabrook, Paul James, Allyson Kettler, and Zachary Kettler; 16 great grandchildren and one expected great-grandchild. A funeral mass to celebrate the life of Curry Paul Kojis, Jr. will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Duluth, GA, with Father Paul A. Flood and Scott Chemino as celebrants. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Rosary being said at 7:00 o’clock at Roswell Funeral Home. A memorial mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Grapevine, Texas on Thursday, August 18, 2011 with Fr. Paul A. Flood as the celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt Olivet Cemetery in Forth Worth, TX where Curry will be laid to rest beside his beloved Eva. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to St. Benedict Catholic Church, Duluth, GA for the Parish, St Vincent de Paul Society , or Knights of Columbus; or to Diocese of Alexandria Seminary Education, 4400 Coliseum Blvd, Alexandria, LA 71306; or to Catholic Relief Services.
