

Douglas R. Sullenberger, of Johns Creek, Georgia, passed away on March 23, 2026, surrounded by family after fighting a difficult disease with great valor. Doug was born on May 29, 1948, in Knoxville, Tennessee. He grew up in Milton, Florida, earning his B.S. from Florida State University, and after graduation, moved to Atlanta earning his M.S. in Criminal Justice from Georgia State University and worked with the Atlanta Police Department while saving money to attend law school.
Doug was an Attorney earning his Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law, and was a Partner with Fisher Phillips, with the firm for over 40 years, specializing in labor and employment law. Doug was passionate about his work and was an exceptional labor lawyer who delivered outstanding results for his clients, never retiring. He was also a trusted mentor, loyal colleague, and friend to many. Doug received the following recognitions: “Top 100 Labor Attorneys” in the U.S. and has been recognized in “The Best Lawyers in America” since 2013.
Doug’s greatest love was his family, and is survived by his wife of 29 years, Dana, his children Kate, Douglas, Dylan and Jackson, grandson, Townes, brother Jack and his wife, Lindy Sullenberger, brother Tommy and his wife, Joann Simmons, sister-in-law Karen Sullenberger, sister-in-law Karen Egan, brother-in-law John Egan, mother-in-law, Eleanor Egan, and many nieces and nephews. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Katie and Archie, and brother, Don Sullenberger.
A funeral service and Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at noon, at St. David’s Episcopal Church, 1015 Old Roswell Rd., Roswell, GA 30076. In lieu of flowers, donation memorials may be made to Breakthrough T1D, St. Jude, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, Samaritan’s Purse, St. David’s Memorial Fund, or a charity of your choice. Doug will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
