Ellen Mullendore Knouse passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026. She was born on February 27, 1941, in Huntsville, AL to Pierce and Clara Mullendore. Ellen went to Oglethorpe University and Georgia State University, where she earned advanced degrees in education. She really loved teaching special and elementary education, starting as a teacher and later becoming a principal, retiring from Roswell North Elementary School.
Ellen was an engaged member of the Roswell Presbyterian Church, Roswell Kiwanis Club, North Fulton Retired Educators, North Fulton Master Gardeners, and Horseshoe Bend Garden Club. Her kindness and deep sense of service endeared her to others.
She is survived by her son, Ron Cantrell; her daughter, Karen LeCates; step-daughter, Mindy Knouse; step-son, Rob Knouse; and four grandchildren, Lee and Chris Cantrell, Jenna and Chloe LeCates; and three step-grandchildren, Emma Carnicom & Ellie and John Brems.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 11am at Roswell Presbyterian Church, 755 Mimosa Boulevard in Roswell. Friends may visit with family members from 4-7pm on Friday, April 17, at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
