Enrico Freda

Obituary Enrico (Rick) Freda passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 following a brief illness. Mr. Freda was born in Montenero Val Cocchiara, Isernia, Italy on August 13, 1938, the son of the late Rinaldo and Iole (nee Orlando) Freda. He immigrated to the US when he was 19 years old.

He was a member of St. Peter’s Parish in Lorain & St. Brigid Catholic Church in Georgia. He was a licensed optician in the state of Ohio for over 50 years. Throughout those years, he worked for Bausch & Lomb, White Haynes Optical, and a few local Optometrist offices.

Mr. Freda was a long-time member of the Lorain Lions Club. He served many years as a key-holder for the Montenero Club on Broadway and remained an active member until he passed.

His hobbies included bowling, golfing, cooking, walking his dog Toby and spending quality time with his adored grandsons, Nicholas and Andrew.

Rick was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Marie (nee DiCarlo) Freda and brother, Antonio (Tony) Freda. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (nee Freda) Amundsen (Dave) of Alpharetta, GA; grandsons, Nicholas and Andrew Amundsen; sisters, Carmela (Vincenzo) Caserta of Erie, PA, Maria Zidow, of Parker, Colorado; brother, Giulio (Janis) Freda, of Parker, Colorado and many nieces and nephews that he adored.

A funeral mass for Enrico will be held Monday, October 23, 2023 at 1:00 PM at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 3400 Old Alabama Road, Johns Creek, GA 30022. A viewing and visitation will occur Friday, October 27, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Funeral Home, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052. A funeral mass will occur Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 9:00 AM at St. Peter Parrish, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44053. A burial following service will occur Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Calvary Cemetery, 555 N. Ridge Rd. W, Lorain, Ohio 44052.

Enrico will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, 555 N. Ridge Road W, Lorain, Ohio 44052.
