Francis J. Duffy passed away on January 13, 2014. Born in Buffalo, NY in 1931, Frank lived there until he enlisted in the Navy in 1949. He was a Lieutenant and Naval Aviator, toured the world, and remained in the Naval Reserves until 1967. He married Carolyn (Voss) Duffy in Jacksonville, FL in 1955 and was happily married for 58 years. He graduated from the University of Miami with a Master's Degree in Finance.
Frank worked as a stockbroker and financial planner for Merrill Lynch from 1958-1979 in Miami, Atlanta and New York City. He established his own company F.J. Duffy & Company, Inc. in 1983 serving individual investors, non-profits, and business owners. Frank was active in the early development and promotion of ESOPs (employee stock ownership plans) being passionate about the importance of business ownership and its positive impact on companies and employees.
Frank was a devoted brother, husband, father, grandfather, business leader, voracious reader, avid gardener, tennis player, bridge partner, mountain lover, and armchair weatherman. In his spare time, he taught courses in financial planning, lectured, wrote articles, and was active in numerous charities and civic organizations.
Frank is survived by his wife Carol, sister Ann Massengill and niece Anna Hamburg of Raleigh, NC; sons Paul Duffy (wife Shannon), Cincinnati, OH and Kevin Duffy, Roswell, GA; and grandchildren Colin Duffy, Los Angeles, CA, and Meredith Duffy, Boston, MA. His daughter Susan Duffy, Roswell, GA and brother Paul K. Duffy, Miami, FL both passed away in 2013.
Services will be held at Catholic Church of St. Ann in Marietta, GA on Friday January 24th at 11AM. A reception at the church will follow. He will later be laid to rest at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
