Glenn was born June 5, 1962, in Lyons, Georgia, the third of four sons, to Mr. and Mrs. Harry H. Thompson Jr. Glenn was a Cub Scout, a multi-sport athlete, the bass player for the band Omega, a loyal friend to many, and a loving son and brother.
Glenn graduated from Lyons High School in 1980. He joined the Georgia Army National Guard at age 17, then attended Mercer University and later transferred to Georgia Southern University. Glenn was an ROTC scholarship recipient, commissioned a Second Lieutenant at age 20, and graduated from GSU in 1986.
It was at Georgia Southern University that Glenn met Sharon, who would later become his wife. They married in December 1985 and two sons would be born - Ben in March 1996 and Pierce in August 1997. They first lived in Roswell, then moved to Milton, where Ben and Pierce would attend elementary, middle, and high school.
Glenn was a very involved father - he volunteered in the classroom and would become an Assistant Scoutmaster in the newly founded Troop 3000. Glenn cheered on the Yellow Jackets and the Bulldogs equally as his home was a “house divided.” He was a loving dog dad to Dottie, Roxie, and Sadie.
Glenn was a state and federal employee working for various agencies of the government. He retired as a Major from the Georgia Army National Guard after 30 years of service.
Glenn loved life, he was an eternal optimist and a devoted, faithful, and loving husband and father. His courage, faith, and strength was proven over and over again in his valiant battle with appendix and colon cancer.
Glenn leaves behind his wife, Sharon, his sons, Ben and Pierce, his brothers, Harry, Mike, and Blake, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. His love will remain in our hearts forever. We thank those who sat with Glenn, held his hands, prayed for him, brought him meals, and continue to love and cherish him.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 28, 2025 at Roswell Funeral Home. Interment will be at Green Lawn Cemetery. Condolences and memories can be shared at www.roswellfuneralhome.com
