A native of Norwalk, CT, Guy graduated from Colgate College in Hamilton, NY. After a lengthy career in the insurance industry in Pennsylvania and eastern Tennessee, Guy retired at the age of 70. He and his wife Barbara then moved to Cumming to be closer to family. Guy was involved in scouting for nearly 50 years in Knoxville and Athens, TN and ensured that all three of his sons were involved in scouting, as well. He was a dedicated member of First United Methodist of Cumming, and more recently, First Redeemer; he was an enthusiastic member of the choir at both churches.
Survivors include sons Jeff (Kris Rice) of Savannah, Lyle of Roswell, and Brian (Tracey) of Griffin, GA; and granddaughter Madison Baker of Washington, DC. Guy was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Baldwin Baker, parents, Everett and Dorothy Baker, and stepmother, Shirley Baker.
Memorial service will be at 10:30 am, Saturday, March 28, at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Rd., with visitation preceding at 9:30.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Everett I.L. Baker Library at Connecticut State Community College, Norwalk (188 Richards Ave., Norwalk, CT, 06854) or a charity of the donor’s choice.
