

Mrs. Helene Silverman, age 81,of Atlanta, GA, was born in Brooklyn, NY November 27, 1940. She moved to Teaneck, NJ at the age of 7. She was a majorette in high school and went on to Russell Sage College in Upstate New York and became a teacher. She spent over 30 years teaching grades 1-4 in addition to being a reading specialist.
She met her husband, Herbert Silverman, on a blind date and they were wed May 8, 1966 and recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. They lived together in New Jersey, and then Davie, FL for over thirty years. They moved to Braselton, GA in 2009 to be closer to family and then most recently resided in Sandy Springs.
Helene is preceded in death by her mother Enid Berman Rod and her father John Joseph Rod. She is survived by her husband Herbert, daughter Susie Fages, son-in-law Jeff Fages, grandchildren Bram and Jillyan Fages of Alpharetta, GA, and son Bruce Silverman, daughter -in-law Michele Silverman and grandchildren Logan and Ethan Silverman of Fort Lauderdale, FL, as well as her brother Edward Rod and sister-in-law Fern Rod of Boca Raton, FL.
She passed away June 16, 2022.
Helene was a voracious reader, she loved participating in book club, playing word games on the computer, hosting social events and volunteering. She had life-long friends and family from all over the country, especially the eastern seaboard. She loved her family more than anything in the world and will be greatly missed.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, June 20 at 10:00 am at Greenlawn Cemetery in Roswell, GA. Shiva service will be held that evening at Congregation Gesher L'Torah that evening at 6:30 p.m.
