He was born to Roger Lane and Doris Landrum Lane on January 24, 1949.
Jim or “Jimmy”, known by close friends and family, is preceded in death by; his parents, Roger and Doris Lane, and his brothers, Randy and Tommy Lane.
Jim is survived by his children, Valerie, Erin, and son-in-law, Jaime; three grandchildren, Madalyn, Kayelee, and Lily; his former wife of 49 years, Guinn, as well as countless extended family.
Jim was born and raised in Roswell, Georgia. He graduated from Roswell High School with numerous accolades and went on to attend the University of Georgia, where he earned his degree in Business. He was the first member of his family to graduate from college, a title he wore proudly. He was a life-long Bulldog fan, listening to the radio broadcasts by Larry Munson, while watching the game on mute every Saturday.
Jim went on to raise his family in Duluth, Georgia, beginning in 1982. Although he lived in Duluth for over 30 years, Roswell was always his “home.” He was an avid golfer, never missing a round every Saturday morning with the same foursome.
He retired in 2015 after years of being in management. Retirement allowed him to reconnect with many of his old Roswell football buddies. He enjoyed those times of reminiscing immensely.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at Roswell Funeral Home in Roswell, Georgia. His funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 P.M. Interment will succeed the service at Green Lawn Cemetery and Mausoleum in Roswell.
