Born on March 22, 1955 in Westfield, NJ, Jeff was the proud son of Donald L. and Agnes L. Flagg. He enjoyed an idyllic childhood, as he was known to recall, growing up in New Jersey and then Winchester, Massachusetts, before the family relocated to Dunwoody, GA in 1967. Here in Georgia, he attended both Marist and Peachtree High Schools before enlisting in the US Army and stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. Jeff was an instructor in the Army Corps of Engineers. He took tremendous pride in serving his country, following the footsteps of his father, who was a WWII veteran of the battle of Anzio, and his Flagg ancestors who fought in the American Revolution.
Jeffrey had a successful career in the printing industry here in Atlanta. He worked for many years with Franklin Printing, before accepting a position with MARTA in 2016. He took great pride in creating custom, full service printing and won many awards for his artistic sign designs. It was ironic that Jeff’s career saw him create volumes of original artistic posters, as also he took great pride in his family’s connection to cousin James Montgomery Flagg, the famed American Illustrator who created America’s Uncle Sam “I Want YOU for the U.S Army” poster.
Jeff Flagg was deeply loved by his family and friends. He and youngest brother Kevin were the best of friends. They enjoyed fishing together and vacationing with family. He was a proud protective brother to his older sister Donna Flagg Liddell, and younger sister Melanie Flagg Brewer, having lost another sister, Maleia Ruth in infancy in 1963. Though Jeff was never blessed with children of his own, he was the proud uncle to his nieces and nephews; Heather Pennington, Maleia Liddell, Erin Flagg, Rachel Flagg, Will Brewer, Kate Brewer, and his God child, Kathleen Flagg, along with grandnieces Jordan Pennington, Ansley Liddell, Hayden Liddell, and grandnephew Malik Liddell.
Jeffrey Flagg was loved dearly by his family and friends and we will all miss and love him forever.
