Joan Brooks Edmond died peacefully in Johns Creek, Georgia on November 27th 2013. She is survived by her children Anne (Michael Romeo), Cathy (Steve Hipskind), Charles (Leslie), Lee (Lisa). Joan has 9 grandchildren whom she loved and spoiled.
Joan was born June 19th, 1927 in Parkersburg, West Virginia. She graduated from Parkersburg High School and attended Denison University. While working as a medical librarian at University Hospital in Philadelphia she met Horace Edmond. They married in 1949 and lived in many cities during their marriage. Ultimately they settled in Dunwoody, Georgia.
She was a member of Dunwoody United Methodist Church and was an Auxiliary Volunteer at Northside Hospital. She spent her free time at Dunwoody Country Club where she was an avid tennis player and golfer. Joan loved flowers and belonged to the Dunwoody Garden Club.
A private family service will be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of Georgia.
