

Mrs. Joanne McKinnon Knight, age 89, of Sugar Hill, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021. Joanne was born on November 8, 1931 in Miami, Florida, the daughter of the late Paul and Susie McKinnon.
Joanne met the love of her life, James (Jimmy) Hampton Knight, and they were united in matrimony December 28, 1951. This union was blessed with two loving daughters, Jo Ellyn and Jennifer. Joanne and Jimmy had 43 years of love and laughter. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and family.
Joanne was a woman of many talents and interests. She worked as a bank teller after graduation from Miami High School, and later as a Secretary for Broward County Schools and Delta Airlines for several years until her retirement. She was a member of Pembroke Road Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was an accomplished seamstress, and enjoyed cross stitch and crafts. Joanne sang for many years in the school chorus and church choir, as well as taught a children’s Sunday School Class. She also played the piano and organ. She loved gardening and baking. Her favorites were growing roses and making German Chocolate Cakes.
Joanne loved her family. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed every moment spent with them. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Her life and legacy will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.
Along with her parents, Joanne is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jimmy. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Jo Ellyn Hill (Bob), Jennifer Ryan (Bob), seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and two great grandchildren soon to arrive in February and March.
The Celebration of Life to honor Mrs. Joanne McKinnon Knight will be held at three o’ clock in the afternoon at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, Georgia 30076.
