

John J. Tavormina, aged 87, a resident of Woodstock, Georgia, passed away on January 2, 2016. John was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 8, 1928. John is a graduate of St. Johns University in Brooklyn. For most of his career he worked as a Programmer and Educator at International Business Machines (IBM). John also served as a college professor, including at Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, Georgia. John enjoyed card games, puzzles, and woodworking, but most especially he enjoyed his family. John is survived by his wife of 61 years Josephine, his seven children Joseph & Thomasine Tavormina, Jeanne & Mark Thompson, Vin & Eileen Tavormina, Angela & Mike Martin, John Tavormina Jr. & Heather Phillips, JoAnn & Eric Peterson, and Maria & Brian Connors, as well as 28 Grandchildren and 15 Great-Grandchildren. A Visitation Service will be held at the Roswell Funeral Home on Monday, January 4, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 PM, with a Rosary service and remembrance at 6:30 PM. A Mass is scheduled at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church on January 5, 2016 at 10:30 AM, and will be followed by a reception in the church hall and an escort to Arlington Memorial Park for a burial service afterward. The Tavormina family welcomes our family members and friends to join us at these memorial services. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
